Super Artist — Nette

Jeanette says that it was the artist in her that drew her to apply to be first a Trustee for Supershoes, and then to take the plunge to paint shoes as well! Jeanette was a children's cancer nurse for 25 years, before moving into management, so she understands very well how important it is to encourage youngsters to be active, even during treatment. She also knows that when children are separated from their friends during their frequent hospital stays, their hobbies and interests are the constants in their lives, connecting them to normality. She's seen first-hand the boost to wellbeing that comes when a child receives a pair of Supershoes, illustrated with their favourite things.
“It was scary giving the volunteer painter role a go; you want to do a great job for the child or young person. Now I’ve done a few pairs I’m building confidence and love that I can support children and young people in this way in my spare time.”
