What is it?
Griscelli Syndrome is a very rare immune condition. It is not a cancer or bone marrow failure disorder in itself, but Type 2 Griscelli Syndrome can cause another condition called hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). This affects the risk of severe infections and damages the bone marrow. This is treated with steroids and chemotherapy and in some cases stem cell transplant.
Who does it affect?
Primary HLH usually shows up within the first year of life, while secondary HLH typically develops later in childhood, although it can appear at any age.
