The most SUPER special start to 2025!

Supershoes, as you may know, began in 2013 at the kitchen table in Sarah and Ken White’s house. By 2015, the operation had expanded so rapidly that a headquarters was set up in its own office and Supershoes was registered as a charity. Fast-forward to 2024, and at the time of writing, over 7,500 children and young people have received the gift of Supershoes! Ken and sarah 1

And now for the exciting bit: Supershoes is thrilled and delighted to announce that co-founders Sarah and Ken have both been awarded the British Empire Medal in the 2025 New Year’s Honours List by His Majesty King Charles III for services to children with cancer. They will receive their medals in a local ceremony, presented by the Lord Lieutenant, and during the summer, will attend a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace, further acknowledging their achievement. Sarah and Ken spoke about how they felt to receive this award: “Throughout our years with Supershoes, we have had the honour to work with so many people who are also absolutely deserving of an award. We have witnessed first-hand the extraordinary commitment and kindness of our incredible volunteers and the amazing fundraising efforts of our unwavering supporters who always go the extra mile. But without a doubt, it is the bravest children and their families that we have the privilege to serve that have truly touched our hearts. It therefore feels somewhat surreal, albeit hugely humbling that we are both to receive the British Empire Medal from His Majesty the King.”

Supershoes has always held the children and young people at its very heart. And at the very heart of Supershoes are Sarah and Ken, setting the standards, leading, advising, persuading, campaigning, and, above all caring. Worthy recipients indeed. Supershoes couldn’t be more proud of you both. Many, many congratulations!
