Super Layla’s Journey
Layla has been undergoing cancer treatment since she was just 2 years old. Initially, Layla was diagnosed with a brain tumour, and underwent surgery and chemotherapy. Chemotherapy can have its own side effects, due to its toxicity, and Layla’s ongoing aplastic anaemia has been attributed to this. At age 5, Layla relapsed and had to have further surgery and also proton beam therapy. She is currently in hospital, having received a bone marrow transplant. Layla’s mum says she’s their inspirational warrior and has been Super brave throughout.
Layla was thrilled to receive the gift of Supershoes, and we received this thank you from her family:
We just wanted to say a massive thank you to Maisy, for creating Layla’s beautiful Supershoes. She absolutely loves them, the colours are her favourites and as are the characters, and they are just perfect for a little girlie. They are amazing!
Lots of love to you, Layla. All of us at Supershoes are sending strength and good wishes.
Super Layla’s Diagnosis
Aplastic anaemia is a serious condition in which the bone marrow does not produce enough new blood cells. Some symptoms include tiredness, paleness, frequent infections, and easy bruising and bleeding. Find out more about Aplastic Anaemia
The Supershoes
Layla loves Disney princesses, and particularly Ariel, Cinderella and Elsa from Frozen, so Super Artist Maisy made sure these images were there for her, along with her favourite colours of pink and yellow, along with hearts and rainbows.
