Super Brody’s Journey
After a month of awful headaches and a few seizures, on 1st June 2020 Brody was diagnosed with a grade 3 Ependymoma RELA fusion-positive. It was a massive shock to us all. Four days later he underwent an eight-hour operation which successfully removed all of the tumour. Brody then had six and a half weeks of daily Proton Therapy sessions. He had to travel hours away from home for this treatment, and it was really tough on the whole family being away from home for so long. This treatment was followed by 5 months of chemotherapy.
Throughout all of this, he has always had a smile on his face and he never complains about any of it. Brody received his Supershoes halfway through chemotherapy. It was the perfect pick-me-up and he instantly fell in love with them, as did his family! Brody’s parents always tell him that he is brave and fierce like a lion, so it was perfect that a lion was on his Supershoes, as well as his favourite football team Cambridge United.
Brody finished chemotherapy and got to ring the end of treatment bell on the second of March 2021 and everyone was over the moon.
Brody’s parents tell us that Brody wears his Supershoes with pride at every opportunity. They remind him that he is brave and fierce. Any child going through cancer has to endure things that most adults couldn’t even imagine.
Brody, everyone at Supershoes is roaring right along with you, and sending you strength and our love.
