A minor fall, and unexplained tummy pain caused Francesca’s mum and dad to look further for a diagnosis. They were not expecting cancer in the form of a Wilms’ tumour. Francesca has had two rounds of chemotherapy and her left kidney has been removed. She is now on maintenance chemotherapy until February 2023.
Super Francesca’s Diagnosis
Around 90 children are diagnosed with renal (kidney) tumours every year in the UK. Of these approx 80 are Wilms' tumour. Find out more about Wilms Tumour
The Supershoes
Francesca asked for rainbow colours, tulips, bluebells and daffodils on her Supershoes, as well as Miraculous Ladybug and a baby unicorn. Super Artist Claudia was only too happy to oblige! Francesca wears her Supershoes to her treatment sessions, so she can show them to everyone.
