Super Jack’s Journey
Following an urgent GP referral, Jack’s parents received the devastating diagnosis of Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma of the orbit. Jack has received 5 weeks of Proton Beam therapy, followed by 27 weeks of chemotherapy. Thankfully, his cancer has responded well to this gruelling treatment programme.
Jack definitely deserved a pair of Supershoes to give him a boost, and his mum tells us they did the trick! “Thank you for putting a smile on Jack’s face and giving him something totally original and meaningful to him.” We’re happy you’re happy Jack!
Super Jack’s Diagnosis
Rhabdomyosarcoma is the most common form of soft tissue sarcoma in children. It affects around 60 children each year in the UK. Find out more about Rhabdomyosarcoma
The Supershoes
Jack requested 2 very specific images for his Supershoes: a penguin and a sloth. These were the names James gave to the “wiggles” on his Hickman line (used for giving treatment directly into a vein for a long period of time, such as chemotherapy, antibiotics, food supplements, blood transfusions, or for taking samples of your blood for testing) during his treatment. Supershoes are indeed unique to their owners and often represent something very personal to them. Jack is also a Fortnite fan, so that featured on his Supershoes too. Super Artist Amy made a fab job of this pair!
